The ELCA Youth Gathering is happening next summer (June 27-July 1, 2018) and all youth entering grades 8-12 this summer are eligible to attend.
We are happy to announce that we have opened our newly decorated and sparkling clean nursery (infant through 3 years). The nursery is located in the Education Building (next to the Sanctuary) on the first floor. A qualified professional care-giver from AZ Lullaby Guild and a volunteer will be ready to welcome your child on Sundays from 8:15am-12:15pm.

YOUTH SUNDAY SCHOOLThis is a class for 7th grade students and up that is offered during Sunday School time (from 9:45-10:45am) in the Youth Room. This fall, we will be exploring how Martin Luther lived out his faith in the 16th century, and how we can live out our faith in the 21st century.

Jan 7: Epiphany Fair
Feb. 18: Lenten Fair
April 1: Easter – No SS
May 20: Last day of SS
CONFIRMATIONThis is a two-year program that is geared for 7th and 8th grade students (which goes above and beyond Sunday School) and provides an instruction/experience in the Christian faith in the Lutheran Church. This serves as part of the fulfillment of the promises made by parents and sponsors on the day of baptism. Then, at the completion of the class, students are given the opportunity to affirm their baptism and be accepted into full “confirmed” membership of the congregation. Also after affirming their baptism, youth are eligible to serve on ministry teams, be elected to council or to represent the congregation at synod gatherings, and to vote at congregational meetings. I am really looking forward to teaching this class this year. This class will meet on the First and Third Wednesdays of the month from 6:45-8pm….starting with an Orientation for Students and Parents on September 6. During classes, there will be interactive activities, learning, and dessert! See our online calendar for dates.
VBSVacation Bible School 2018 Mark your calendars now for our next edition of Vacation Bible School on June 18-22 with our traditional Celebration Sunday Worship Service on June 24. This year we will be traveling to Babylon with Daniel. We will learn that Daniel was way more than the guy who survived a den of hungry lions! Children and volunteers will enjoy lively music, small group interactions in “Tribe Time”, the Marketplace Shops, the Palace Playground, educational drama in “Daniel’s Adventure’s” and wonderful snacks. Registration will open in early 2018. Be sure to tell all of your family, friends and neighbors about Living Water’s Vacation Bible School with no registration fee and a free t-shirt for every child! See you in Babylon!
ADULT FORUMJoin us every Sunday @ 9:45am in the Education Building
Ideas for 2018 include the Rev. Steve Cornils from Mount Olivet Lutheran in Minneapolis, who will teach on two Sundays. And a series on “end of life” issues, which could include estate planning, knowing when it’s time to move from your own home, and understanding how Hospice works.
TUESDAY WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDYFollowing a holiday break, we resume in January to finish up the final chapters of our book study written by Episcopal priest and college chaplain, Alice Connor, titled: “Fierce: Women of the Bible and Their Stories of Violence, Mercy, Bravery, Wisdom, Sex, and Salvation.” Women of the Bible aren’t shy or retiring; they’re fierce and funny and demanding and relevant to 21st century people. Some of their names we know, others we’ve only heard, and others are tragically unnamed. In January, we’ll meet women from the New Testament: Herodias and Salome, Paul’s Church Ladies, and Mary of Magdala. Come each week or when you can! Join us on Tuesday morning at 10 am or Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm for about 90 minutes of conversation, prayer, and learning together. Bring your Bible! The coffee will be on, as well as hot water for tea or hot chocolate. Questions? Contact Myrna Ulland at email@example.com
